Make sure that the new water heater you acquire can fit into the desired location. This is especially true if you are thinking of getting a bigger unit or planning to position it in a new location. Turn off everything that's needed to be turned off. Locate the main water valve for your home and make sure you turn this off before you proceed to install the water heater. If what you will be installing is an electric water heater, then make sure that you turn off the circuit where the heater is connected to. If on the other hand you'll be installing a gas water heater, make sure that you turn the main valve to the gas supply in your home. |
